Do I have to make online reservations?

Advance booking is not mandatory, but it is possible. If you want to be sure of a visit, please reserve a ticket in our online ticket shop.

I have a Friends membership, can I enter at any time?

Advance booking is not required, but it is possible. If you want to be sure of a visit, please reserve a free ticket for ‘Friends’ in our online ticket shop. You are, of course, also welcome to just drop by without making a reservation on presentation of your Friends card.

Do I need to print my online ticket?

You are allowed to print your ticket but it is not necessary. You can also show your ticket on your mobile for scanning at our entrance. Should you have a discount ticket, e.g. a student price, you must also show your student card.

I bought a ticket online, but I am not able to make it

Tickets that are bought online cannot be refunded. Your ticket is valid throughout the whole day as dated on your ticket.

Can I reschedule my online tickets?

Yes, you can reschedule your ticket via the link you received in the confirmation email. If this link doesn’t work, please contact: [email protected].

I bought multiple tickets and now each e-ticket has the same name, is that a problem?

No, that is not a problem. The tickets show the name of the person that bought the tickets. Each ticket has its own  barcode that will be scanned at the entrance.

Can I take my travel luggage inside the garden?

Suitcases or large travel (back)bags are not allowed in the garden.

Do you have lockers for my luggage?

No, we do not have services for luggage. Backpacks, suitcases and other travel bags can be stalled in several luggage depots throughout the city: the closest being Bikerent in the Valkenburgerstraat or Quality Bike rent in the Peperstraat.

Can I enter with a stroller or pram?

Yes, strollers and prams are allowed in the garden, also wheelchairs or walkers are allowed.  For more info please check this page on accessibility.

I am not able to visit the Hortus on my own. I need a guide/companion. Do I need to buy him/her a ticket too?

If, for (health) reasons, you can not visit de Hortus on your own, it is possible to bring a companion with you during your visit. Your companion may enter the garden free of charge. You can register your companion at our main entrance, you do not have to reserve a separate ticket.

Can I have my wedding/photo shoot?

Photoshoots in the Hortus are possible with a small group. Read more on the photo shoot page.

Can I celebrate my wedding/ anniversary  in the Hortus?

Several spaces inside the Hortus can be hired for weddings, dinners and receptions. For the possibilities, please contact [email protected] or call 020 7025 444.
